The business card has outlived every prediction of its death. In Singapore’s relationship-driven business culture, handing over a well-made name card still carries a different kind of weight than sharing a LinkedIn profile. But walk into any print shop or browse online, and the options quickly become overwhelming: matte or gloss? 350gsm or 400gsm? standard, folded, or die-cut?
Here is what actually matters — and what you can safely ignore.
Getting the Size Right
The standard business card size in Singapore is 90mm × 54mm — the same as a credit card. Most cardholders and wallets are designed around this dimension, so unless you have a very specific reason to deviate, stick with it.
Square cards (55mm × 55mm) have grown popular among creative professionals and lifestyle brands because they stand out in a stack. Mini cards around 85mm × 40mm work well as a secondary branded touchpoint for vouchers or loyalty cards. Our die-cut name cards go further — any shape, any outline, cut precisely to your design.
Paper Stock: The Feel of Your Brand
Paper weight is measured in GSM. For business cards, anything below 300gsm tends to feel flimsy — most professional cards in Singapore are printed on 310gsm to 400gsm stock. ExpressPrint offers eight materials across all card types.
- Gloss Art Card (250/310/360gsm) — smooth surface that makes colours pop. Ideal for design-forward name cards with photos or vibrant gradients. Takes lamination well.
- Linen 240gsm — textured, tactile feel that reads as upscale and artisanal. Preferred by law firms, financial advisors, and boutique consultants.
- Metal Ice 250gsm — metallic shimmer that stands out in any stack without full foiling. Popular choice for our standard name cards.
- Vellum 250gsm — semi-translucent, elegant. A distinctive finish for premium brands.
- Frosted Plastic — waterproof and virtually indestructible. The go-to for name cards that need to survive Singapore’s humidity and daily handling. Also available as a die-cut card in any shape.
Finishes: Where Most People Get It Wrong
Gloss lamination gives name cards a high-shine reflective surface — colours look vivid and the card feels premium. Matte lamination creates a soft, non-reflective surface that feels tactile and modern. Many design-conscious Singapore brands have shifted to matte because it photographs better and feels more distinguished in hand.
Soft-touch lamination is matte taken a step further — a velvety, rubber-like feel that is the most impressive finish when you want someone to remark on the card the moment they hold it. Spot UV applies a glossy varnish to selected areas — your logo, a pattern — while the rest of the name card stays matte. The contrast is dramatic, especially on dark-background designs. Both are available on our standard and die-cut name cards.
The Five Types We Offer
Beyond standard flat cards, ExpressPrint offers five name card formats to suit different needs:

- Express Name Card — ready in as little as 2 hours, printed on 310gsm with High Chroma Colour Toner
- Folded Name Card — four panels in the same wallet footprint, across all 8 materials
- Die-Cut Name Card — any shape, Spot UV and Hot Stamping available
- NFC Smart Card — embedded chip, tap to share contact details, works on all modern phones without an app
Should You Add a QR Code?
Yes — without hesitation. A QR code on your business card linking to your digital profile or contact-saving link costs nothing extra in print terms and dramatically extends the utility of a physical card. In 2026, it reads as thoughtful and practical. Keep the code at least 1.5cm × 1.5cm to ensure scannability after printing.
