Packaging Box Printing Singapore — Double Tuck, Snap Lock, Flip Top & Auto Lock Explained

Packaging box printing in Singapore involves four main box constructions — each designed for a specific use case. Getting the right box style for your product prevents assembly problems, structural failures and packaging that looks worse than it should. This guide explains each style clearly.

Double tuck end box — the most common retail packaging box

The double tuck end (DTE) box is the most common retail packaging box style in Singapore. Both the top and bottom of the box have tuck flaps — the top tucks in after filling, the bottom locks during assembly. No glue or tape required. Ships flat for efficient storage, assembled in seconds.

Best for: cosmetics, health supplements, food products, electronics accessories, candles and any boxed retail product. The default choice unless you have a specific reason to choose another construction.

Limitation: the bottom can flex open slightly with heavier products — if your product weighs more than 500g, consider snap lock bottom or auto lock base instead.

Snap lock bottom box — stronger base for heavier products

The snap lock bottom box has a tuck end top (same as DTE) but a different base — interlocking flaps that snap and lock together. Significantly stronger than a standard double tuck end base. Better for heavier products, premium packaging where structural integrity matters, and products that will be handled repeatedly.

Best for: cosmetics sets, candles, gift boxes with heavier items, premium supplement packaging and any product above 500g where the box base needs to hold firmly.

Flip top mailer box — premium unboxing experience

The flip top mailer box (also called a hinged lid box or magnetic closure box) opens from the front like a book — the lid is attached to the box base via a fold. Single-piece construction with no separate lid. Creates a premium unboxing experience that e-commerce brands use to make a strong first impression.

Best for: e-commerce order packaging, corporate gift boxes, subscription boxes, PR packages and influencer gifting kits. The construction is stronger than a tuck end box and creates a distinctively premium experience when opened.

ExpressPrint integrates the Pacdora 3D design tool for flip top mailer boxes — enter your dimensions, upload your artwork and see it wrapped around a 3D box preview before ordering. See flip top mailer box printing.

Auto bottom lock box — fastest to assemble

The auto bottom lock box (also called crash lock base) has a pre-glued base that automatically locks into position when the box is opened — no manual folding, no flap insertion. Pull the box open and the base snaps into shape instantly. The fastest box to assemble on a production line.

Best for: high-volume e-commerce fulfilment, production line packaging where assembly speed is critical, FMCG brands with large pack runs and any operation where labour efficiency in packing matters.
