Paper Materials

We have 2 types of paper material, coated and uncoated.

Coated Paper Material

Coated papers are papers that are coated with glossy, semi-gloss, or matte finishes. Coated paper has an agent added to its surface in order to improve brightness, smoothness, or other printing properties. Once coating is applied to the paper, rollers help to “polish” the paper. It fills in the tiny pits and spaces between the fibers, giving it a smooth, flat surface.

What does this coating do for the prints?

First, it makes the printed material more shiny and bright, which is why it is typically used for brochures, glossy photos, booklets, and more. Second, the coating restricts how the paper absorbs ink, helping to prevent the ink from bleeding. This is a desirable trait for complex designs or images that must be sharp. Finally, coated paper is more resistant to dirt, moisture, and wear, which will help it to last longer.

We have 2 types of coated materials in our stocklist.

  1. Art Paper / Card: These are materials coated on both side. The available grammage ranges from 80gsm to 450gsm
  2. Art Card (1 Side Coated): This materia are coated only one 1 side. The other side is uncoated and rough.

Uncoated Paper Material

  1. 80gsm/100gsm/140gsm Simili Paper: These are like copier paper.

Uncoated paper is exactly what it sounds like – paper that has no extra coating or paper finishing. Since there is no coating, there is no glare on the surface. One good thing to note is uncoated paper has more texture and “colour”.

These are the uncoated paper materials in our stocklist. Please allow for some slight colour differentiation due to screen colour.
